A Summer to Remember

Summer is one of our favorite times of year at Fiver! Camp Fiver opens its gates to nearly 400 new and familiar faces, and our bustling NYC office is filled with activity as teens participate in workshops and trips tailored to developing career goals and plans.

This summer, 387 youth returned to their home-away-from-home—Camp Fiver—in Poolville, New York. Nearly 80 of those campers experienced the magic of the Camp Fiver program for the first time. Fiver youth participated in our various camp activity offerings like horseback riding, weaving, low-ropes and high-ropes courses, and more!

We also opened a new sleeping cabin on our camp property! Thanks to a generous grant that we received from the Scott Ralls Fund, ACA, NY & NJ, we were able to finish construction on our sixteenth sleeping cabin. The Clover Cabin served as a home for 35 teens this summer.

In the New York City office, we welcomed 70 teens to participate in Fiver’s Job Training program. High school students had the opportunity to develop resumes and cover letters, practice interview skills, and expand their network through visits with Google, Mastercard, Global Holdings, Royal Bank of Canada, Northwell Health, and Paramount. We appreciate the continuous support we receive from our corporate partners who host virtual and in-person opportunities that introduce our teens to diverse careers.

We also celebrated the incredible teens who completed Fiver’s ten-year program. This year, 100% of Fiver graduates graduated high school, and 80% of graduates are enrolled in college, trade school, or the military and will be attending schools like SUNY Albany, St. John’s University, Hunter College, Delaware State University, and Baruch College. While their ten-year commitment has come to an end, Fiver will continue to support program alumni through their post-high school decision-making and provide ongoing one-on-one support as needed, because once a Fiver, always a Fiver!
