Potential children and parents learn about
Fiver programs during an informational
session held at their school or community
center. After their first summer
at camp, Fiver kids are welcomed into all
year-round programming.
While at camp, children live in cabins
or platform tents and take part in a variety
of activities while learning how to make
positive life choices. During the
evening, campers participate in campfires,
talent shows and large group games. One
hundred campers attend during each of four
sessions for a total of 400 campers throughout
the summer. Children progress through
the LEARN, TAP, LEAD and SERVE programs
during their ten
years in the Fiver program.
Each program brings new challenges and
develops new skills.
College-age counselors lead and teach
the Fiver kids while serving as excellent
role models. Counselors are recruited
from Fiver partner organizations and universities
throughout the United States. Several
international staff members complete the
counseling team and provide a global perspective
for our children. The summer staff
also includes leadership team members,
activity specialists, lifeguards, nurses,
and kitchen, maintenance and office personnel.
Each summer, Camp Fiver receives a permit
from the Department of Health prior to
opening our doors to children. Fiver
is also accredited by the American Camp
Association.
